As we get ready to finish the first week of the new-a-day project, most new things on my list are about food. Yummy!
Monday began on a somber note as I drove two co-workers to my hometown of Douglas, Arizona to attend a funeral. Being in your hometown can be a weird experience. My friend’s dad died of a heart attack last week. He was a remarkable man.
After a long night drive’s home, I tried out a new protein bar. I’m always suspicious of these bars, especially when they are readily available at gas stations. Sugar content can be high and that’s the killer for many of them.
Tuesday was back to the routine. Happy Tapatio Tuesday! My office mates treated me to a late-birthday lunch where I munched-down on the Yucatan Fish Burger at Chevek’s Casuals. It was delicious. So was the tomato soup. A couple of the guys were just being guys and tested their muscular abilities at the lunch table.
I should mention that I had a taste of Pâté made out liver and some other mystery items. Not sure if I’ll ever have that again…
On the way back to the office, I stopped by the Food Co-Op to buy a snack. The “Pure Bliss” energy bites found their way into my pocket. Not just becuase it was something new, but they are made out of hemp seed hearts, which my buddy Luis thought was all the rage.
Wednesday was another early day. I tend to get up at 4am. It’s the best writing time. 6am is workout time. This routine makes for a long day. After work, I stopped by Unique Nutrition for an energy tea and then made my way to the campus Fitness Center. Luis had a new routine for me. It was shoulder day and I felt a bit sore when all was said and done.
Hopefully this translates into results.
Memorial Day is just around the corner. Let’s see what this holiday weekend has in store.
